Welcome!
I am a former member of 4H and current member of ARBA. I have a small rabbrity located in Southeastern Wisconsin. I show in ARBA shows and also am involved in the Rabbit Hopping Project through 4H.
After trying several breeds, I now focus on breeding, raising, and showing Netherland Dwarfs and Holland Lops.
Netherlands: I am trying to focus on the chinchilla variety which has proven difficult as they are not a popular variety. Although I have been focusing on chins I have ended up with quite a few REWs as well. I have been trying to breed for temperment as well as color and quality.
Hollands: I am mainly focusing on Broken Blue Torts at this current time. I have not been breeding them much lately as I ended up with mainly bucks, but I just got a young doe so in the future I will hopefully be breeding them more often.
Most of my rabbits are kept in a rabbit shed in my backyard, but I also have a large hutch outside that I use during the summer months for one of my rabbits. I bring the inspecting mothers inside the house a week before they are due so the kitts are born indoors where I can keep a close eye on both the mother and kitts. After weaning the mother goes back out to the rabbit shed while most of my young rabbits stay indoors for a while, so that I can continue to expose them to the rest of my family and introduce them to the other pets as well as so I can let them out to play daily, even during the winter.
